New Skirt!

Have you ever owned a piece of clothing that you actually ADORE.
Yes thought so.
And have you ever had to go through the trauma of it wearing out and having to say goodbye to said garment?
Yes thought so.
Well that happens to me alot. I find something I love (no easy task) then wear it literally to death.
Then I spend ages moping around saying things like "I really loved that skirt" and "I'm never going to find a better one" and "I'm so saaaad"
This is what has happened to my best ever skirt.
Gorgeous isn't it, such a pretty pattern, goes with everything.

Bargain it was too in Monsoon clearance.
I have worn that skirt for EVER!

Look,
so FOREVER it's actually fallen apart.

The fabric is in tatters!

Then last week I was browsing E Bay and I found a skirt.
THE SAME.
My heart beat faster I bid.
YAY
I won!!!
I am a very happy lady.
It's in perfect condition.
Only snag, it's size 18!

But that's okay because I'm going to remake it, I can't wait.
I'm going to have my favourite skirt back!
I am so delighted.
Will it be ready for Christmas I hope so.
Better get a wiggle on then.
See you soon
Love
♥Sue♥

  2. So funny, but such a good idea!! You might even have some fabric left to trim something else up with. You are so clever with your sewing. xx

Back in the zone

Hello So it's been a while but I think it's safe to say that I'm back in the zone! The spinning wheel is out and I'm loving it. Loving the calm rhythmic movement of fibre flowing through my fingers, watching the bobbins fill with gorgeous colour, enjoying the meditative process that spinning is. I've been spinning some beautiful Alpaca and silk that I dyed AGES ago. It's very soft and fluffy but spins up really well wanting to be thin and sophisticated.

I've also been admiring this beauty, I know a rainbow landed on the rug! It's Milk Fibre, it take dye amazingly well, it's incredibly fine and slippery. I tried spinning it 'neat' but it proved impossible so I'm carding it with Merino.

What do you think?

I'm really pleased, I'm a carding newbie but again it's a wonderful process which I find completely absorbing.

I'm planning on carding each rainbow colour separately I'll let you know how it goes.
So how are you all? Hopefully f…

Sunday

A beautiful day here in Portsmouth. A hint of Spring in the air and the first outdoor spinning of the year.

It felt good to be outside listening to the birds and soaking up the warm sunshine on the deck.

The cats thought so too! Ghetto having a stretch.

Lord Howard(as he is now known!) relaxing! After an hour sitting in the sunshine it was on with my walking boots and off to the sea.

First stop Milton Common, the sky full of Brent Geese chattering as they flew overhead.

The Solent was particularly sparkly today.

The Hard in Old Portsmouth looked higgledy piggledy and colourful.

Then a final treat as I wandered home, a glorious sunset. A day to lift the spirits and make me glad to be alive! Hope you've all enjoyed a wonderful weekend too. Love ♥Sue♥

Five Photo Friday

Half term, it's been too short. It's been all about these gorgeous boys. Beautiful Brodie, two weeks today.

And Finlay the most fantastic two year old EVER! That's true, cos I'm his Nana. ♥
Finlay's birthday cake. Just so you all know, I'm never making a Thomas cake again, fiendishly tricky!

We also spent some time checking out Storm Brian. Very stunning he was too.

That's it, end of another holiday. Roll on Christmas then!!!!! Love ♥Sue♥
