Sunsets and marmalade!

This weekend we managed to get out and about.
By bike and on foot, enjoying the exhilarating weather.
Camera in hand of course!

Friday took us to Southsea, a lovely walk from our house.

A delicious cuppa at the Coffee Cup along the prom.

Watching the traffic.
Then down to business.

Catching that setting sun.
Our beach has some beautiful grasses and plants growing on it,
throwing myself on the stones I watched the sun set over the Isle of Wight.

Boy it was cold, but stunning!

South Parade pier, looking almost beautiful LOL
A shrine to seventies architecture NOT the most attractive building in the world.

Sunday saw us doing a spot of bird photography,
here we are all set up, waiting
and waiting and waiting.

Bit tricky doing the washing up around the tripod.

Quite like this practise shot of fennel seed heads.
Then how much excitment
A bird!
A Blue Tit
Snap.
Oh, not a great shot.

Starlings on the flats behind our house.

That was it.
How frustrating.
However, the advantage of setting up in the kitchen is that you pootle around making deliciousness.

Grapefruit marmalade
Mmmmm

Not a huge batch I admit but absolutely gorgeous.
And finally a spin along the seafront,
Blimey it was windy

But worth it, it's always worth it,
to be outside spinning along on my bike enjoying the fantastic views!
Hope you had a lovely weekend too.

Sunday

A beautiful day here in Portsmouth. A hint of Spring in the air and the first outdoor spinning of the year.

It felt good to be outside listening to the birds and soaking up the warm sunshine on the deck.

The cats thought so too! Ghetto having a stretch.

Lord Howard(as he is now known!) relaxing! After an hour sitting in the sunshine it was on with my walking boots and off to the sea.

First stop Milton Common, the sky full of Brent Geese chattering as they flew overhead.

The Solent was particularly sparkly today.

The Hard in Old Portsmouth looked higgledy piggledy and colourful.

Then a final treat as I wandered home, a glorious sunset. A day to lift the spirits and make me glad to be alive! Hope you've all enjoyed a wonderful weekend too. Love ♥Sue♥

Back in the zone

Hello So it's been a while but I think it's safe to say that I'm back in the zone! The spinning wheel is out and I'm loving it. Loving the calm rhythmic movement of fibre flowing through my fingers, watching the bobbins fill with gorgeous colour, enjoying the meditative process that spinning is. I've been spinning some beautiful Alpaca and silk that I dyed AGES ago. It's very soft and fluffy but spins up really well wanting to be thin and sophisticated.

I've also been admiring this beauty, I know a rainbow landed on the rug! It's Milk Fibre, it take dye amazingly well, it's incredibly fine and slippery. I tried spinning it 'neat' but it proved impossible so I'm carding it with Merino.

What do you think?

I'm really pleased, I'm a carding newbie but again it's a wonderful process which I find completely absorbing.

I'm planning on carding each rainbow colour separately I'll let you know how it goes.
So how are you all? Hopefully f…
